A quick update on the writing marathon... It started July 1st. It's a contest against yourself. Can you live up to your own goals for a whole month?
My goals are to write everyday, at least an hour. Each week I hope to produce at least 7,000 words that I didn't have before. By the end of the month I hope to have 30,000 new words. I have three projects that I'm working on the this month - The Gargoyle's Egg, Lady of Swords, Hands On.
And here's my progress: I have written for at least an hour everyday except one (the sunday of con so I have a good excuse). And I have made up the time with extra minutes on other days. As of July 7th I had 7,000 words on The Gargyole's Egg and had written the words "the end" for that story. Woohoo. Now I'm working on Lady of Swords and have 4,000 words on that already.
At this rate, it won't be hard to make my total word goal. It will just be a matter of making sure that I keep up with the daily writing. It's been a while since I've put this kind of effort into my fiction. I've been allowing school to get in the way. Now that school is out of the way for a little while, I'm rediscoving the joys of loosing myself in fiction. There is one major hurdle coming up though - Harry Potter should arrive in our mail box on July 16th. But I will get through that. I just won't sleep for a while.
