   Graduation

My Brother graduated with a BS in Forestry on Saturday. I'm so proud of him (even as I'm jealous that he's 5 years younger than me and managed to graduate 2 years ahead of me - but that's what I get for changing my major 3 times).

At the ceremony I got to hold my niece on my lap - at least that was the theory. In reality I acted more like a jungle gym than a chair. And I have to say it's really hard to convince a child that what's going on is important when all the adults are bored out of their skulls (why must graduation ceremonies be so boring?). Anyway, we lasted just long enough for my brother to walk across the stage, shake all the required hands and get his picture taken, then Niece and I went to the lobby.

Once there she litterally ran in circles around the stantions. In an effort to prevent ME from getting dizzy I offered to buy her some animal crackers from the vending machine. She tried to negotiate for the m&m's but we compromised on letting her put the money in and getting the animal crackers.

My brother looked so good in his cap and gown. And I really am proud of him - he's crazier than I am. He works full time, has 2 small children 4 days a week and took a full load of classes (I don't have kids at all, and I only take a half load of classes). Now the only problem facing him is finding a job in his field in the area - he can't move away because of the kids. There are all kinds of positions all over the country, but not in that area.

Oh well, With a little luck and a few good wishes, I'm sure that things will work out for him.
