I'm not as old as I thought I was

But I'm still just as busy.

Wow! The last few weeks have been full. Starting off with a camping trip way up north. We left on Thursday right after work (4:30) and didn't arrive at the campground until after midnight. Along the way we discovered all sorts of construction detours (which in rural Minnesota can take you miles off your intended path), rain - and lots of it - and one deer who was stupid enough to run out in front of our car. Thankfully, Emmiline's brakes once again saved the day and the deer made it safely back into the forest, and we had enough adrenaline in our system to keep us awake until we reaced the campground.

That weekend was cold, rainy and a whole lot of fun. Sweetie got to go fishing for the first time since he moved to Minnesota 7 years ago (and he moved here for the fishing). He also had his first taste of fresh northern and sunfish (he'd caught such fish before, but had always released them.). Uno and I got in several nice long walks - and Uno found all sorts of little friends (ticks). He also discovered the joys of cuddling around the campfire while the rest of us played pass the puppy.

Then a quick week of work followed by CONvergence . I was on 3 panels. That was a blast. I got to sit up at the big table and talk about some of my favorite subjects. Amazing how being on one side of the table made people think you were an expert and being on the other makes them think you are an annoying loudmouth. We actually had some pretty good discussions. Including a very animated one on Sunday afternoon about anti-heros - which is amazing considering how tired people generally are at that stage of a Con.

On top of all the pannels and costuming and all that, There was a dance. On Friday night, the DJ was actually pretty good (and the volume kept to a dull roar) so Sweetie and I decided to dance. An hour or so later, we'd had our fill and went back to our room - that's when we discovered that it was almost 2am and we were still feeling fine. We would have done the same Saturday night, but the volume was cranked so high we were getting headaches before we even got to the ball room. And here I was thinking that I was too old to stay up that late and still have a brain the next morning.

Now I'm back to work and all that fun stuff. I'm also getting in geer to get my wedding planned, writing done in anticipation of too much homework when school starts again, and all the other fun stuff that I do.
