Woohoo christmas is over. Presents have been given and recieved, for the most part. The baking is done (for now - I'm sure it won't be too long before Sweetie and I decided to fire up the oven again). And I've got my anual after holiday cold. I hope the Sudafed will hold out through New Years.
Christmas day was actually fairly low-key this year despite the young children in the family. My Nephew had the flu so wasn't much interested in opening presents. Actually about all that he was interested in doing was using his daddy as a pillow. My Niece, who had just gotten over the flu, was still a bit more quiet than usual. She did participate in the anual paper fight (and this year she has learned to let go before hitting you with the balled up wrapping paper). She would have been more than happy to help her brother open his presents, but Daddy decided it was best to take them home mostly wrapped in case he felt better in the morning.
Like any true 3-year-old Niece's favorite toys were the cheepest. She had more fun with the fake jewelry I had gotten for free than the dress up clothes I'd spent a fortune on. She also had plenty of fun with all the big boxes expensive stuff came in. I sometimes wonder why I bother spending money anyway when I could just go down to the local mall and pick up some big boxes and be done with it.
I snagged a pretty good haul as well. Sweetie bought me lots and lots and lots of new clothes - which is great because he has better taste than I do. I also don't like to go clothes shopping so it's just as well too. I also got playdoh, the crate edition of "Apples to Apples" card game, a desk calandar, a crock-pot, a book about how to make all the stuff you see on "Trading Spaces" and much more. Sweetie was plesantly surprised that I had managed to conceal the large set of tools he's been drooling over for the last couple of months. I'd been telling him that he couldn't get it until we had space to store it. He also got a set of TV tables that have already proven to be an asset.
Next up, New Years. I'd better go take a nap.
